Sam Guzik is a journalist and digital thinker. Currently, he is the senior product manager for content experiences at Hearst Newspapers.
Most recently, Sam served as editor for strategy and platforms in Newsday’s opinion department. In that role, he was a member of the editorial board, responsible for translating the board’s voice on to digital platforms. He was a leader in planning and securing $1.5 million of grant funding for nextLI, a project dedicated to creating a community to discuss Long Island’s future.
Sam served as a digital media associate at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, teaching video production, data visualization and interactive design. He has worked as a freelance reporter and photojournalist, with work appearing in the The Bronx Free Press, St. Louis Jewish Light and AOL News.
He holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and is a graduate of Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he was recognized with a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship. Prior to attending Columbia, Sam studied at Washington University in St. Louis where he worked for Student Life — the university’s independent, student-run newspaper and one of the oldest newspapers in Missouri. He remains involved with Student Life as a member of the paper’s alumni board of directors.
